Based in Utah along the stunning Wasatch Front, Janelle Anderson’s artwork bridges two distinct creative worlds born from her Kansas countryside roots and current Utah mountain life: fine art oil paintings and vintage tarp textile art.

Her current Alpine & Acreage Collection explores the Western Mountain + Countryside Aesthetic—an organic modern, lifestyle-focused genre rooted firmly at the intersection of traditional Western ranch culture and upscale mountain resort living. Her work balances a deep reverence for mountain ranges and pastures with a love for raw, unexpected textures, bridging the gap between the refined and the raw.

Janelle’s journey with artistry began long before she fell in love with the mountains. She has been painting, drawing, and sewing since her youth in a small Kansas town, developing a deep respect for fine art, craftsmanship, and textiles early on. Spanning over 32 years and ten cross-country moves with her husband, Gary, and two daughters, Amanda and Avary—she absorbed the changing landscapes, diverse cultures, and rural heritage of the US before making her home in Utah, where the majestic peaks and local wildlife captured her creative heart completely.

Please enjoy Janelle’s current collection — the fine art oil paintings on stretched canvas offer a refined, contemporary take on Western ranch realism, capturing the quiet, soulful gaze of horses, sheep, and cattle with timeless sophistication. In contrast, her vintage tarp art utilizes heavy, weathered vintage tarps as a rugged canvas for hand-drawn, hand-cut fabric elements stitched directly into the material—with her current line bringing to life sweeping mountain peaks, swaying gondolas, soaring ski lifts, carving skiers, and the lively spirit of après-ski culture in her textile assemblage artwork.
